An excellent number of cattle were forward for the East Midlands Limousin sale at Newark with the males starting the day with a selective trade.  Topping the males was Mereside Achilles bred by Messrs Hazard and consigned by Craig Schofield. This January 2005 son of Mereside Tobius was sold at 2400gns to Bob and Hayden Williams, Leicestershire. 

 

Selling at 2200gns was Wilodge Bratpacker sired by the successful Wilodge Tonka, purchased by Messrs Heleben Farms, Buckworth

 

Paul Dawes sold Dinmore Commando by Broadmeadows Cannon and out of Wildoge Littlegem to David Shepherd, Cambs for 2000gns.

 

Females got the crowd buzzing with the outstanding Wilodge Vantastic heifer calf at the foot of Withersdale Ururn from Derek Wharton. Sired by Fenrose Orinoco and out of Sheelin Lena and back again to Fieldson Alfy, the successful purchaser was top pedigree and commercial producer, Anita Padfield, Norfolk at 4800gns. The Withersdale herd had a successful day with 10 cows and calves to average £2430.75.

 

With their usual consignment of good cattle, Messrs Millington Grange Estate topped their run with Millington Sinead sired by Redpaths Optic and out of Normande Nina. She was sold with her April born heifer calf, Millington Vascular for 3600gns to commercial producer Frank Page, Rugby.

 

Mr Page was also back in the action to take Millington Usherette, again by Optic but this time out of Wilodge Pannette and with a Millington Vascular heifer calf at foot. Usherette sold for 2700gns.

 

Mesrrs Roger and Hazard and Sons sold Mereside Vouchsafe by Malibu and out of Mereside Ruth with a January 2008 heifer calf by senior herd sire Vagabond. Taking this outfit home at 3000gns was T M Carr, Stoke on Trent.

 

At 2900gns Mat Brunton sold the in-calf heifer Sheelin Bayne sired by Sheelin Virgo and out of Sheelin Sarah and is in-calf by Leverton Cetus to Mr J Carroll, Somerset
