The pedigree show and sale of dairy cows at Gisburn saw James and Anne Rogerson, Singleton, Poulton le Fylde, take the championship at Gisburn Auction Marts pedigree dairy sale with a Overside Dictator cow in her second lactation and out an excellent dam and VG grand dam. She was claimed by Gisburn pedigree breeder J J Crosier for £2,600.

Simon Thompson, Longridge, Preston, Lancashire won the newly calved heifer class with Affetside Nell 34, again from excellent and very good breeding, she sold for £2,400 to G T Blezard, Larbreck, Preston, Lancashire.

The next lot from Mr Thompson was his Affetside Bobtail 66, out of a VG86 cow and sired by Decker, she sold to Cheshire buyer W A Blockley.

Frankland Farms, Rathmell, Settle, North Yorkshire took the second prize rosette in the newly calved heifer class with a very smart heifer by Hellifield Dundee for £2,300 to Mr Blezard. Others selling at over the £2,000 mark was T A Crook, Houghton, Preston, Lancashire at £2,200. Colin Moorhouse, Halton West, Skipton, North Yorkshire at £2,100 and Eric Armer, Catforth, Lancashire at £2,040.

In the regular weekly section trade was brisk with in calf heifers topping at £1,720 from John Mawson, Skipton and H Hesketh, Longton, Preston, Lancashire. Cattle were on show from Driffield, North Yorkshire to Blackpool, Lancashire and buyers where present from afar a field as North Wales.
