Dairy trade topped at £2,680 at Lancaster this week (19 May) for a consignment from R Lawson and Son. Deerslet Matson Poppy, a daughter of Autumn-Ridge Matson and bred from four generations of VG & EX, had been awarded the champion rosette earlier in the day. She sold to ME Wannop and Son, Heaton.
The same buyer also paid £2,580 for the reserve champion heifer from DJ and S Tomlinson.
Of the 40 dairy cows forward 12 sold in excess of £2,000, with an overall average of £1,848 for cows and £1,906 heifers.
A run of in-calf heifers, in calf to an Angus bull, from G and M Robinson, Claughton-on-Brock, saw best sorts sell to £1,550 with an overall average of £1,475.
In the bull section, trade was topped by the second prize bull from WA and A Booth, Feizor. Bred from three generations of VG and EX, Feizor Delegate, a son of Sully Hart Meridian with blood lines from Goldwyn and Shottle, sold to a final call of £2,080 to C Newsham, Walton le Dale.
