Farming organisations have set up a straw and forage initiative to help livestock farmers in Gloucestershire who have been badly affected by the recent flooding.

The ARC Addington Fund, Gloucestershire Farming Friends (GFF), NFU and CLA are urging farmers in the region to bale as much straw as possible and donate any spare straw and forage to livestock farmers in desperate need of bedding and feed this winter.

The ARC has set aside £10,000 to help with contracting charges and the group is calling for both monetary and physical donations. “I’ve visited 16 farms who’ve lost about 5000t of forage between them, so there must be an awful hole out there,” said GFF’s Chris Peachey.
