Drosymor dairy dispersal tops £2,400

The dispersal of the Drosymor herd of Clive Thomas and Family from Llantwit Major, saw prices rise to £2,400 for Drosymor Lassie 16. Bred from three generations of VG/Excellent dams emanating from the Lassies of the old Marlais herd, she joined the Churchvale herd from Kidwelly. Another Lassie entry was Drosymor Lassie 22 selling for £2,050 to I Gibbon and Family in Mynyddygarreg.

Next top price was £2,350 for Drosymor May 6 who went to Davies, Aberystwyth. In all seven animals sold over £2,000 and the herd averaged a very respectful £1,336.24.

Auctioneers Carmarthen LIvestock Centre report it was a sad day for the family to see the cows go, but hopefully they’ll keep enjoying local shows with the youngstock retained.

The weekly entry trade remained buoyant with a top price of £2,150 for a super Olchfa heifer and £2,100 for a commercial heifer from Oswestry. Cows averaged £1,440 and heifers averaged £1,521 for commercial and £1,762 for Pedigree.
