Passionate about beef production? A flair for management or an eye for detail? Then Farmers Weekly wants to hear from you.

With the deadline fast approaching to enter our Beef Farmer of the Year award, enter yourself or someone you know today by simply going to awards.fwi.co.uk.

This year’s three finalists will be invited to attend the coveted Farmers Weekly awards ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel, London, for the biggest party in the farming calendar.

Winning Beef Farmer of the Year can literally change lives, as last year’s winner Phil Jones explains.

“The honour and the privilege of receiving such a title has been uplifting and quite humbling. I still pinch myself that such recognition came my way. It has given me and the business an enormous boost as local media / press took an interest in the story and how the business worked. As I run a small family business it just goes to show that big does not have to be beautiful!”

Not only has the title raised Mr Jones’ profile, as people want to find out more about the organic farm, it also opened new doors to share his insight into the business to students and conference delegates.

Mr Jones says: “It was a great experience from start to finish but I must not become complacent. The bar has been raised and every effort is now needed to maintain standards and to improve further. The process has been an excellent self-assessment tool for the whole business.”

“I would encourage other farmers to enter because we all have the information readily available when we stop to think about it, it’s a matter of telling your story and being yourself. The more you put in the more you get out.”

“And to cap it all, the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor! I left Wales on the morning of the award ceremony thinking that just being a finalist in the Beef category was massive and that anything else would be a bonus. Walking away with the award was an amazing feeling, if I can do it then so can many more hard-working, committed individuals / teams.”

Deadline for entries is Wednesday 30 April at 12pm midnight.
