Practical foot-trimming demonstrations will be one of the highlights at this year’s Livestock 2012 event at the NEC Birmingham.

The Giltspur-sponsored demonstrations will be staged four times daily at the event on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 September and will be held in a purpose-built marquee alongside the main Livestock Hall.

The demos will feature the most popular techniques supported by independent commentary with additional information provided on locomotion.

Nick Everington, chief executive of event organisers RABDF, comments: “Foot-trimming demonstrations have proved a very popular practical exhibit for the past five years as lameness continues to be a significant health and welfare issue within dairy herds.

“This year we are staging stand-alone demonstrations which will be of interest to all visitors as well as livestock exhibitors and their stockmen, which demonstrate best practice together with the benefits of using a professional foot trimmer.”
