Gimmer scoops 11,000gns at Northern Irish National Texel sale

The Northern Irish Texel female record  was equalled last night (Monday 13 August) when a Fairywater gimmer achieved 11,000gns at the Northern Irish National Texel sale.

New and existing breeders bidded hard for the Texel selection at Ballymena, where the average was up £131 on the 2011 fixture.
Female and overall champion from Andrew Fyffe, lot 21.jpgAnd leading the sale with a top price of 11,000gns was a gimmer – FAO1100201 – from Andrew Fyffe’s Fairywater flock.  The female and overall champion in the pre-sale show, this one (pictured above) is a duaghter of former sire of the year Strathbogie Python, and out of a dam by Ettrick My Jinks.  She was bought by Michael and Melanie Alford for their Foxhill flock, based in Devon.
Reserve female champion Brian Hanthorn's lot 65.jpgThe second highest price of the night at 3,500gns was achieved by the reserve female champion (pictured above).  This one – HBN1100334 – is from Brian Hanthorn’s Mullan flock. A daughter of the homebred sire, Mullan Royal Flush, this one is out of a dam by the 120,000gns tup Loosebeare Imp.  She was snapped up by Robin Ellis for the Elgur flock, Borthyn.
Following suit, selling for 2,800gns, was another one from Andrew Fyffe.  A daughter of Fairywater Olumpian and out of a dam by Milestonehill O’Gara, FAO1100178, was bought by James and Austin Morgan, Newry, Co Down.
John Currie’s Tullagh flock then sold its first entry for 2,700gns to the Alfords – CJT1100239 is a Garngour Patriot daughter out of a dam by Cherryvale Nijinsky.   While, another one from the Mullan flock of Brian Hanthorn achieved 2,000gns from Liam Cowan, Hollymount, Co Mayo – this one is by Mossknowe Pudsey and out of a dam by Knock Impulse.

Falling not far behind at 1,800gns was Richard Henderson’s HBR1100237 – a Maineview Lionheart daughter, out of a dam by Douganhill McFly, this one sold to Robert Fleming, Lockerbie. 

Another from Mr Henderson – HBR1100311, sold to Charles and David Seaman, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.  Selling again for 1,800gns, this one is a Ballynahone Rissoto daughter our of another McFly daughter.

First prize ewe from Claire Beacom, lot 9.jpgIn the ewe lamb classes, the first prize ewe lamb sold for 1,700gns.  This one, BKL1200116 from Claire Beacom’ flock, is by Springhill Six Pack and out of a dam by Ballyhivistock Pop Star – she was snapped up by Messrs McFarland, Co Tyrone.

Meanwhile, fetching 1,600gns was a Fairywater Olympian daughter – GRS1100407, from Henry Gamble.  This one is out of a dam by Milestonehill O’Gara, and wwas bought by Ernest Hogg, Derryharney, Co Fermanagh.
