Keenan wins science award

An innovative, science based approach to feeding dairy and beef cattle has won Keenan, the feed wagon manufacturer, the Oxford Farming Conference and Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE) Practice with Science Award.

Gerard Keenan, the CEO, said the £10,000 prize will be invested for further research into feed efficiency and carbon footprinting – two of the big challenges facing meat and milk producers.

The award was set up to recognise applied scientific work that has resulted in benefits to the industry, particularly in relation to on farm practices.

The judges were impressed with Keenan’s long term development into the Mech-fiber System, which gives farmers a practical approach to improving their economic, environmental and animal health performance by adopting precision feeding aimed at rumen efficiency.
