Taking that top bid was Messrs W McLaren for their senior champion McLarens Brogue. This February 2006 son of Ronick Viking is out of a homebred cow and sold to T and J Leslie, Shapinsay, Orkney.
Just shy of the top call were two bids of 6200gns. The first call came from Messrs Gill, Fortrose, Ross-shire for the second prize Kype Brando from R Cruikshank. By Roughley Solomon, which goes back to Ronick Iceman, he sold with a breed value of +27. The same call came from Messrs Currie, Tarbeit, Argyll for the junior and overall reserve champion from Douglas and Linda Graham. Burnbank Bomber, with a breed value of +33 is by Grahams Tycoon and out of Burnton Roxana.
The first of the 6000gns bids were Messrs Hamilton, Carluke, Lanark for a high figured bull from the Haltcliffe herd. Not quite the bids Matt and Craig Ridley were used to seeing at Carlisle on the Friday before for a Sympa son out of Ronick Salsa, Haltcliffe Bastille.
The second of the same price came for Ballinloan Black Bradpitt from Stuart Fotheringham. This is a Penedw Orion son out of Weshall Rush.
Selling for 5800gns was Stephen Irvine’s first prize winner Anside Anchor, which found a new home with J MacPherson, Inverness.
