Limousin youngstock hit 4500gns at Carlisle

Apologies for this report not reaching you last week, a couple of days in Devon meant I haven’t had chance to get to it until today.

Anyway, at last week’s sale of Limousin youngstock at Carlisle, the top price was a 4500gns sale for February 2009-born bull Hudscales Earl from the Cowx family. This Objat son is out of Hudscales Bessie, a Gunnerfleet Talker daughter. This one has a beef value of +37 and sold to J Ward Farming, Greetwell, Lincoln.

At 3300gns was Beck Ely, a January 2009-born son of Ionesco from W J Hickson. This one is out of Beck Martha, a Cannon daughter and sold to J J and B A Smith, High Blantyre, Glasgow.

Making 3200gns was Homebyres Elworth, a Threaphurst Butch son from John Logan. This August 2009-born bull is out of Homebyres Christie, a Cloughhead Umpire daughter and has a beef value of +36 and sold to Robb and MacDonald, Cambuslang, Glasgow.

A pair then sold at 2800gns, the first of which was Shieldrigg Ebrahim, a Rocky son out of Shieldrigg Afsoon, a Ronick Luke daughter. With a beef value of +32 he sodl to Messrs Beckwith, Kirkby Stephen.

The second at this price was Howhall Eric, a Fieldson Alfy son out of Howhall Ulrika, a Ronick Rascard daughter. He sold to J S Cloughton, Leyburn.

In the heifers on offer the best sale was a 2900gns bid for Tunnelby Enrichetta, a Fieldson Alfy daughter out of Tunnelby Carietta, a Ramses daughter. She was bought by J Ward Farming, Greetwell, Lincoln.

At 2600gns was Siddall Ell, an Ionesco daughter from P Fletcher. She is out of Siddall Ball, a Sarkley Viking daughter and was sold with a beef value of +36 to J Ward Farming.

At 2000gns was Norman Elderberry, a Heathmount Trojan daughter out of Norman Violet, a Rombalds Rebel daughter. She sold to Robert Neill, Jedburgh.

Averages; 32 bulls ÂŁ1760.39, 29 heifers ÂŁ1340.74 (Harrison and Hetherington).
