Limousins hit 5200gns at Dungannon

A top price of 5200gns and an overall clearance rate of 72% marked a sucessful end of year sale for Limousins at Dungannon last weekend with trade topped by the intermediate male champion Derriaghy Crackerjack.

May 2007-born Crackerjack from D G Green and Son, Derriaghy Road, Lisburn is by the French AI sire, Omer, and out of Killowen Paulina, a Duc daughter and sold to M Stevenson, Girvan, Scotland, with a beef value of +23.

Second top price of 3750gns was claimed by Tom Adams’ June 2007 born entry Fedneyhouse Connor, the junior champion from his Shot Lane, Banbridge, holding. By the Adams’ stock bull, Ulm, and out of French dam, Upsilon, by Flint, Connor sported a beef value of +35 which placed him squarely in the top 10% of breed and heads to new owner David McKee, Kilkeel, Co Down.

Next up was Carnew Classact from Jim & Johnny Aiken, Dromore, selling at 3200gns. A son of the prolific Ronick Hawk and out of Carnew Venus, an Ocean daughter, this one sold with a beef value of +37 to M Fleming, Magherafelt. Also trading at 3200gns was Millgate Carlos with an +28 beef value from Michael Loughran, Cookstown. By Ballyline Udolf, a Mas du Clo son, and out of the French dam, Ariane, this one was secured by Norman Cruickshank, Cleghorn, Lanark, for his Normande herd.

Alistair Gault’s Forkins Classic, a March 2007 bull born by Embryo Transfer, made 300ogns selling to V Quinn of Kilkeel, Co Down. This one is a Forkins Classic is by Nenuphar and out of Sweetwall Fancy.

A strong heifer trade saw the day’s top price go to the nine-month-old Reserve Female Champion, Oldehouse Didi, a February 2008 born daughter of Ronick Hawk and out of Bailea Atlanticmist, which took the eye of everyone, including the Judge. Shown by J Ferguson & Son, Comber, she was sold to prolific Limousin buyer Raymond Crawford for 3000gns.
