Limousin breeders smashed the centre record at Bakewell last week when the top priced entry from the show and sale of bulls and females on behalf of the North West Midlands and North Wales Limousin breeders club sold for 5600gns.

The sale leader, forward from T L I and C P Wynne’s Alwen herd, north Wales. This one by the great breeding sire Cloughhead Umpire owned by the Ridley’s, Haltcliffe, sold to the judge George Holling, Alfreton.

Second top call was a 2700gns bid for Coachhouse Cassanova from Messrs Heald and Co, Retford. Cassanova is by Bailea Ulsterman and out of Coachhouse Ulene, a Haltcliffe Picasso daughter. He sold to D N and J E Renwick, Bakewell.

Topping the female trade was a 3700gns sale for young cow Roughley Abba which was sold with her February-born bull calf at foot by Goldies Terrence. She was also bought by Mr Holling.
