Limousins top Stirling multibreed sale at 10,000gns

 

Overall Reserve Champion Dyke Frosty 10,000gns web.jpgUnited Auctions in Stirling witnessed the largest entry to date for their annual May Multibreed sale held yesterday with 253 lots of pedigree beef bulls and females forward.

 

Limousins

 

It was a good day for the Limousins with a top price of 10,000gns achieved for the reserve champion bull, Dyke Fristy (above). This October 2010 born son of Drumduff Champ was purchased by John Thomson, Hilton of Beath Farm, Kelty, Dunfermline.

 

Next in the Limousin section was 6,500gns paid to Messrs B G and L Allan, Glenturk, Newton Stewart, for Glenturk Freestyle, a son of Wilodge Vantastic. The purchaser was Mr J Black, Tangy, Campbeltown .

 

Two bulls achieved 6,200gns. The first was from J and E Aitken of Overton, Fintry, Glasgow, for Overton Frodo, a September 2010, son of ULM. He was purchased by Mr A Lambie, Loanhead of Duchally, Auchterarder.

 

Mr W Kerr of Middleton, Newton Mearns, Glasgow, paid the same for the show champion Grahams Fanfaron – a much fancied son of Millgate Clinker, consigned by R and J Graham, Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan, Stirling.

 

J and E Aitken of Overton, also paid 5,600gns for Overton Fulton, a son of Sarkley Topknot. He was sold to J Kay and sons, Hartside, Oxton, Lander.

 

Simmentals

 

Simmentals topped at 8,800gns for Innerwick Butcher, born September 2010 and a son of Castlegate Titan. Put forward by Mr and Mrs L Moffat, Innerwick, Dunbar, he was bought by MacFarlane Farms, Quixwood Farm, Duns.

 

Second top price was 8,500gns for the champion from Mr W S Stronach, Berryleys, Keith. Islavale Boris was sired by Woodhall Walker and purchased for pedigree use by J and E Dyet, East Merkland, Strathaven.

 

Islavale Buzz a son of Glenturk Premier reached 7,500gns also from Mr W S Stronach, Berrykeys, Keith. The purchaser was Messrs Walton and Sons, Dund house, Otterburn.

 

Mr W S Stronach also sold a pair of bulls for 7,000gns. Islavale Bismark was sired by Kilbride Farm Newry, going to its new owners of W and A Oag , Brims Mains, Thurso, Caithness. The reserve champion Islavale Bruce was sired by Woodhall Walker and went to N and M McLellan, Kilchiaran, Port Charlotte, Isle of Islay.

 

Charolais

 

In the Charolais section, J A and M F McMillan, Craigmore, Brechin, had a successful day securing the breed championship and the top price of 8,000gns for a March 2011 born bull called Dunesk General.

 

The promising youngster was sired by Elgin Columbo and sold to W Milne, Milton of Edinglassie, Strathdon.

 

Blelack Fodue, son of Goldie Dynamite was sold by Mr N F Massie OBE, Blelack, Aboyne, for 7,000gns and he went home to T Leslie, Quoymorhouse, Orkney.

 

6,500gns was achieved for Westcarse Factor son of Kersknowe Clasman, exhibited by J H Christie and Son, West Carse, Stirling sold to J Dunn and Co, Martnaham Mains, Ayrshire.

 

6,000gns was achieved twice by Mr H Goldie, South Bowerhouses, Ruthwell, Dumfries, firstly for the reserve champion Goldies frontier, a son of Dingle Hofmeister, purchased by G and M Porter, Carrabus, Isle of Islay. And secondly for the son of Barbican Lancer, Balthayock Fusilade, from Major D F W H and N R Walter, Balthayock, Perth, purchased by Mr A Shand, Cortiecram, Auchnagatt.

 

Aberdeen Angus

 

Reserve champion Varis Panasonic, son of Miltown Prospector topped the Aberdeen Angus sale at 5,500gns.

 

From Messrs J H C Campbell ad Sons, Thrunton, Alnwick, this one sold to Oatridge College, Ecclesmachan, Broxburn.

 

Messrs Campbell also consigned the champion Aberdeen Angus, Thrunton Predator. Sired by Netherton Figo, he was born in April 2010 and sold for 4,500gns to half share purchasers Firm of G Gray, Sunnycroft, Linndean, Selkirk and J and W Arnott, Haymount, Kelso, Roxburghshire.

 

4,200gns was paid for Logie Policeman, a son of Nightingale Poldark, from Messrs M Bruce and Partners, Estate office, Mains of Logie, Ellon. He sold to Knocknagael Bull Stud, Inverness.

 

Mr Hamish W Sclater Esq, Denhead Farms, Duglugas, Turriff, sold Devron Portree, a son of Deron Pirate for 4,000gns to C McMillan, Tallant, Bowmore, Isle of Islay.

 

Longhorns

Aberdeen Keelie topped the Longhorn sale at 2,000gns from Mr and Mrs G Lennox, Doonies Farm , Coast Rd, Nigg. A March 2010 born son of Gorse Maharajah, he  sold to DR P Cleland, School Green, Huntington, Kington.

 

Averages

40 Charolais Bulls sold to 8,000gns and averaged £4,746 compared to £4,067 for 30 last year. (+£679)

36 Simmental Bulls sold to 8,800gns and averaged £4,433 compared to £3,298 last year for 34. (+£1135)

44 Limousin Bulls sold to 10,000gns to average £4,056 compared to £3,780 for 40 sold last year. (+276)

27 Aberdeen Angus Bulls sold to 4,500gns and averaged £2,843.

2 Salers sold to 4,000gns and averaged £3,787.50.

2 Longhorn Bulls sold to 2,000gns and averaged £1,575.

1 Shorthorn Bull sold to 1500gns.
