Following on from the dizzy heights of trading at Perth and Carlisle recently, demand for Limousin bulls and females continued with a sound trade at Dungannon.

The sale was topped by Francis McAuley’s senior champion, Carmorn Axle (see below), a Kype Spartacus son out of a Pelletstown Ken cow, which sold for 5000gns to J Redmond, Loughgall.

Judge Tom Clyde, who with his son Alan runs the Millwater herd of Limousins at Antrim, was impressed with the quality of stock on show and paid tribute to the efforts of local breeders in producing quality stock, suitable for any market place.

Tom chose as his overall champion a Ryedale Paragon son out of a Redpaths Jaguar daughter, Carnew Ambassador with a Beef Value of LM+27, shown by J and J Aiken of Dromara. This July 2005 born powerful intermediate bull sold for 3,600gns to Messrs G & J Mullan, Coleraine.

Two bulls made 4200gns. First of these was Cargaclougher Attorney, an August 2005 born junior bull from J McKee, Keady. A Malibu son and out of the homebred dam Cargaclougher Thatcher, he was snapped up by G Mackle of Co Armagh.

Also at 4200gns was the reserve junior champion Scotchtown Anchorman brought out by Messrs Allison, Limavady.
