Lincoln Reds sell to 3,000gns at Newark

Females were the pick of the trade at Saturday’s (22 October) autumn show and sale of Lincoln Reds at Newark, with a top call of 3,000gns and in-calf heifers selling to strong demand.

Auctioneer Paul Gentry said demand for females was electric, with strong, well-bred cows and heifers being keenly fought for.

“Several good runs of cattle on offer sold very well and in-calf heifers sold to an exceptional trade, with no fewer than 10 selling at 2,200gns or more.”

Heading up the prices at 3,000gns was the female champion Auchmacoy Heroine T272 from Mrs S Buchan, Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
