Livestock 2012 – Churchroyd take Dairy Shorthorn Champion

By Simon Wragg

Ian Collins’ Churchroyd Bronte Wildeyes 31 has taken the Dairy Shorthorn Championship at the show under judge Gwyndaf James. “I’m looking for a cow with great style, tremendous legs and feet,” he said of his pick.

This home-bred cow is giving 42 litres after a second calving and has had an illustrious show year with Breed Champion and Interbreed at this year’s Great Yorkshire. That followed the Championship taken at the 2011 National Show for the breed at Cheshire Show.

“She’s got the best udder in the breed others keep telling me,” said a jubilant Ian Collins.

Into Reserve went R Morgan & R Stockton’s Westonia Marie 6 with Mr Collins’ Wildeyes 29 being placed Honourable Mention.
