A positive and stable trade was maintained throughout the sale of females at Ballymena Mart. There was a strong crowd of people around the ring all day.
The third prize pen from Alex Hegan, Comber was next to top at £188/head. RJ Johnston, Portrush had £172/head with the second prize pen.
In the ewe lambs again it was a sale stalwart Seamus Killen, Rostrevor who topped with his first prize pen selling for ££160/head. From the same home was a pen at £140/head. The second prize pen of B & E Latimer, Trillick sold for £130/head.
Earlier in the day, the aged ewes had set off well with Fiona Cunningham selling her pen of two year olds for £120/head.
The ram buyers were more choosey. The top price went to B & E Latimer with ‘Girgadis Barracuda’ a Seamus Killen sired shearling ram out of a homebred ewe. He sold for 640gns. The first ram into the ring ‘Skilganaban Belmont’ sold for 600gns for J & C Kennedy. This was a N Johnston sired ram from a homebred ewe. At 550gns, Seamus Killen sold ‘Balintur Bert’ a Debbie McGowan sired shearling ram out of a homebred ewe.
