Demand for Lleyns hit a season’s high yesterday at Carlisle where the top call was a 5000gns bid for a shearling tup from D N Bennett and Son, Powys. In the females the best price of £265/head was given for the champions from the pre-sale show from Hamish Goldie, Dumfries. These were bought by the day’s big spender J Hunt, Hevingham.TS Champ Pen Ring.jpg

At £200/head were a pen from Derek Steen which sold to David Walter, Balthayock, Perth, and at £190 were a pen from the Geldards which were bought by Mr Hunt again. He also bought the next best pen from Hamish Goldie at £185.

Topping the ewe lambs was a £110 bid for a pen from J E B Page, Penrith, when they sold to I O Jones, Abergele.

Averages; 95 rams £893.83, 51 ewes £95.12, 1296 shearling ewes £124, 349 ewe lambs £83.76 (Harrison and Hetherington).
