Store cattle trade at Lockerbie yesterday was as hot as its been anywhere this spring so far with heifers topping at £990 for Limousin crosses from Messrs Jardine and Son, Yett, while steers peaked at £920 for Limousin cross Friesians from J Kerr, South Coshaw.

Top price/kg in the steers was a 228p/kg call for Simmental from D R Howatson, Hallmeadow, while heifers reached 206.2p/kg for Charolais crosses from K Spence, South Corrielaw.

Among the cows and calves on offer top price was £2050 for a Limousin cross heifer with a Limousin sired heifer at foot from Messrs Walker and Sons, Lammonbie.
