Longhorns sell to 2700gns top at Stoneleigh

Top call in the annual sale of Longhorns at Stoneleigh was a 2700gns bid for the overall champion from the pre-sale show heifer Southfield Jasmine 2. This Southfield Gangster daughter out of Southfield Garnet, a Blackbrook K2 daughter from David and Angela Blockley sold to G Hedges, Reading.

At the same money was Southfield India, a senior heifer from the Blockleys sold in calf to Southfield Hawk. G Hedges again secured this one.

Making 2400gns was Fishwick Hot Shot a Blackbrook Pirate daughter sold with her heifer calf at foot from Pete Close. This one sold to A and J M Sheppard, Garway, Hereford.

Best in the bulls on offer was a 2450gns bid for Overdale Jockey, a Wellhead Dynamo son from A Smith. He sold to I J Bayley, Rawnsley.

Averages; 7 Cows with calves or in calf £1503, two Served Heifers £966, five Senior Heifers   £1323, 15 Junior Heifers £1190, five Bulls £1732.50 (McCartneys and Rugby Livestock Market).
