Last week’s dispersal of the Manor herd of Holsteins for Messrs Leigh-Firbank saw 265 head go under the hammer to a top call of 2100gns.  

This top price was paid for Manor Dictator Dahlia 3 a freshly calved heifer sold giving 32.8kg and sired by Overside Dictator. A May calved second lactation cow from the Forida family and by Cogent Disciple giving 43.4 kgs sold for 2000gns.

The strongest trade of the day was experienced for the autumn and winter calving heifers with Manor Mars Annie due in September to Moet Melody selling for 1800gns. And at 1750gns was Manor Desmond Sylvia also due in September to Net-a-Way Pilot sexed semen.

15 month old maiden heifers by Wa-Del Hayden sold to 850gns.  The top priced heifer calf of the day was Manor Lennard Desire Red which at 19 days old sold for 480gns.

Averages: 124 cows and calved heifers (inc A lots) £1371.44, 29 in-calf heifer £1380, 26 served heifers £950, 20 bulling heifers £800, 33 yearling and younger heifers £519.27, 33 heifer calves £316.60 (Greenslade Taylor Hunt).
