More Royal Welsh sheep results

Greetings from a slightly soggy Royal Welsh Show on the second day of this year’s event. The rain set in early this morning and while at the moment it is dry, we’re expecting a deluge later. This morning sees the dairy judging get underway, with all the breeds on show at 9am, in a few minutes time the commercial cattle get underway and the remaining sheep breeds are judged today too, so there’s plenty going on.

Meanwhile, here are more of yesterday’s sheep results;

Taking the championship in the Pedigree Welsh Mountain section was Brian Roberts with an aged ewe, reserve was Russell Davies with a shearling ewe. Hill Welsh Mountain leader was Enoc Jenkins with an aged tup and reserve was Alan and Mai Jones with an aged ewe.

South Wales Mountain champion was Messrs Williams Partners with a shearling ram and reserve here was S and E D Williams with a ewe. Black Welsh Mountain champion was Lyn Cockerill’s ram lamb and reserve was D and R Rowlands with a shearling ewe.

In the Torrdu Welsh Mountain section the champion was Alan Condell with an aged ewe and reserve was J A Langford with a ewe lamb. The Torwen Welsh Mountain champion was J A Langford with a ram lamb and reserve was G W and M M Jones with a ewe lamb.

Balwen Welsh Mountain champion was Dafydd Williams’ two shear ram, reserve was a shearling ewe from the Groucott Family. Taking the championship in the Welsh Hill Speckled Face was Ellis Lloyd and Co with an aged ram and reserve was the same exhibitor with an aged ewe.

Lifting the honours in the Beulah Speckled Face was A and E B Jones with a shearling tup and reserve was the same exhibitor with a ewe. Hill Radnor champion was D C and L Jones with an aged ram, reserve here was K and R Jones with a shearling ram.

Kerry Hill Champion was Dick Powell with a shearling ewe and reserve was J and P Owens with an old tup. D H Morgan took the Brecknock Hill Cheviot championship with a shearling ewe and reserve with a shearling ram.

In the Clun Forest classes the champion was Rex and Debbie Vincent and Searle with a shearling ewe, reserve was Andrew Smith with an aged ram. Lleyn champion was John Geldard with a an aged tup and reserve was H M Wells with a shearling ewe.

Border Leicester champion was R D and J M Phillips with an old ewe and reserve was D R and E A Jones with an old tup.

Berrichon Du Cher championship honours went to M C and K D Yeo with a ram and reserve was Woodton Manor Partnership with a ewe.

Shropshire champion was Sue Farquhar with a shearling ram and reserve was R B and B Higgins with a ewe.
