A Picston Shottle daughter led the prices at 2850gns at the dispersal of the Moundsmere herd of Holsteins last week.
Sale leader was Moundsmere Shottle Lily 2, with this one, an October calver , selling to Richard Bown, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire. She had recorded 9347kgs as a heifer and 10,277kgs to date with her second calf and was due to calve in November to Schillview Garrett.
Third calver Moundsmere Brad Blossom 2 then sold for 2700gns to an undisclosed buyer from the South Midlands. She had calved again in June after giving 11,033kgs as a second calver. She was a daughter of Carp PYR Basar Brad and recording 48.8kgs daily when sold.
W R and A K Evans, Whitland, gave 2500gns for the freshly calved second calver Moundsmere Garrison Bounty 4. She was giving 42.9kgs daily having recorded 9510kgs as a heifer
D and O Coombes, Blandford, then paid 2350gns for second calver Moundsmere Bradley Edna 3.
Averages; 156 cows and heifers £1620.70 (including 35 heifer calves at £588.60), 29 served heifers £1310.33, 54 maiden heifers £881.22, one Aberdeen Angus stock bull at £1365 (Gwilym Richards).
