It seems the crazy prices aren’t being reserved for pedigree tups this year with Mule ewe lambs breeders and buyers getting in on the act too with a top call of £290 at Kirkby Stephen.

Taking this top call was the second prize pen from the show from K A Brown and Sons, Asby Hall. These sold to R and F Wilson.

Next best was a £270 sale for the champions from the pre-sale show. These came from Messrs Lord, Low Dowgill, and sold to G E Carter and Son.  Selling for £240 was a pen from W M Hutchinson and Sons, Redgate, which sold to R M and W R Heigh and Son. Then at £230 were a pen from H W and M A Alderson, Howgill Grange, which told to Martin and Valerie Brown.

Messrs Hutchinson sold another pen at £220, and the Browns paid the next best price of £190 when they bought a pen from G P Taylor and Sons, Swathburn.

Average; 9240 Mule ewe lambs £80.10 (Harrison and Hetherington).
