A Northern Ireland record for a crossbred was set by a Limousin-cross heifer at Dungannon on Monday (26 February) at the National Beef Association’s Beef Expo.

The trade topper from Alan Veitch, Lisbellaw, Fermanagh, is the first calf to be sold out of the record 2012 Welsh Winter Fair calf from Brian Jones, Bailea, Sennybridge

She is a Lodge Hamlet daughter and knocked down to an undisclosed buyer.

The record breaker was from Fermanagh breeder Alan Veitch and went home with an undisclosed buyer

Also in the money at £4,100 was a heifer from Shane Doyle, Kilkeel, with a bid from commercial bidder Blair Dufton, Aberdeenshire.

At £4,000 came Gary Corrie, Newtownards, Co Down, with winning bid for the overall champion heifer. She was from Jack Smyth, Newtownstewart, and by Gerryguillinane Glen.
