Halkirk exhibitor Sandy Murdoch won the championship for the fifth year in a row at Aberdeen and Northern Marts show and sale of weaned calves at the Caithness Livestock Centre.
Sandy, of 3 Vraal, took the title with a six-month-old Limousin cross heifer in the Quoybrae event.
The champion scaled at 353kgs and was sold for £1,250 to show judge Donnie Budge, Brae Edge, Castletown, on behalf of an undisclosed buyer. The reserve champion was a 375kg Limousin cross bullock from W and K Campbell, Mid Calder, Thurso, which sold for £880.
A total of 559 weaned calves were sold with 327 bullocks averaging 220.p per kg (+22.9p on the year) to a high of 276.5p and 232 heifers averaging 201.6p per kg (+17) to a high of 284.8p.
