Shorthorn females enjoyed a resoundingly solid trade on Monday evening with a top call of 5200gns coming from a smart, shapey heifer from John Gibb’s draft from his Glenisla herd.

Taking the days top price was the March 2007-born roan heifer Glenisla Crocus. By Fearn Wyvish and out of a dam of the same name as herself, Crocus sold in calf to Glenisla Zambesi to Mr Bell, Eden Lodge.

Next top price was a 3200gns bid for another of Major Gibb’s run, Glenisla Sally Broadhooks. Again a March 2007-born roan heifer, Broadhooks is also by Fearn Wyvish and sold to M Christiansen, Woolocombe Valley.

Following smartly behind in the price stakes at 3000gns was the pre-sale show champion, again from Major Gibb. This one, Glenisla Eva Broadhooks, is also by Fearn Wyvish and is out of a Glenisla Mississipi sired dam. She sold in calf to Glenisla Zambesi to the judge Brenda Wear, Bristol, who had the courage of her convictions.

Major Gibb sold another from his draft at 3000gns, this time Glenisla Lovely Gazelle sold to Mr Taylor, Orkney. Gazelle is again by the well breeding Fearn Wyvish and is out of a WF Torpedo-sired dam and sold in calf to Glenisla Zambesi.

In the money at 2800gns were Glenrinnes Farms with their April 2006-born red and white heifer Glenrinnes Zoe. By Cairnsmore Sam and out of Glenrinnes Sally Broadhooks, this one sold to Mr MacGregor, Dinn, Glenfarg.
