Show potential calves sold to a peak of £3300 at Caledonian Marts, Stirling, on Friday, with the top price paid for the reserve champion autumn born calf from Monzie Farms. This one tipped the scales at 270kg and had been reserve spring calf champion before taking the reserve overall title. She sold to Paul Barwood and Anita Padfield, Norfolk.CMcalves41monzie (Overall Res Champion).jpgFollowing that came a £2100 bid for a Limousin heifer from J Robertson, Newton of Logierait. This 350kg calf was knocked down to Les Wilson, Nottingham.

The pre-sale champion then came close behind when selling at £2000. This 200kg Charolais cross heifer also came from Mr Robertson and was bought by Cumbrian showman Neil Slack, Penrith. And a 440kg Limousin steer from the same home then took the same money when selling to June Dowie, Girvan. He had been the day’s autumn born calf champion.

A third £2000 sale was achieved when D Henderson, Auchenrivoch, Kilsyth, sold a 440kg Charolais cross calf to D Blair, Littleinch, Wormit, Fife. (Caledonian Marts).
