Trade at Friday’s sale of Simmentals at Carlisle hit a top call of 5500gns when the reserve male champion, Midhope Winston from W J Hollingsworth sold to Neil Balderstone, Skegness. This is a son of Dirnanean Snowie, an Omorga Lennox son, and is out of Midhope Kai, a Greenside Eric daughter. He sold with a terminal sire index of +20 and a self replacing index of +21.
Then at 4500gns was April 2008-born bull Gerrard Winner from Messrs Carter. This Salisbury Challenger son is out of Gerrard Royale 7, a Gerrard Major daughter. He has a terminal sire index of +21 and a self replacing index of +29 and sold to Brett Corcan, Newton Stewart.
Making 3400gns was the overall champion from the pre-sale show, Blackpool Wyatt from David Loftus. This is a Lamhoj Supery son out of a dam by Stirling Logan. With a terminal sire index of +21 and a self replacing index of +20 he was bought by B Duffton, Huntly, Aberdeenshire.
Just shy of that at 3200gns was another from the Carters, Gerrard Ward. This Brinkton Brilliant son is out of Gerrard Belinda 28, a Sacombe Wishful Thinking daughter. He was bought by S Renshaw, Spilsby.
In the females the top call of 4000gns was paid for the female champion from the pre-sale show, Chestermann Ringleader Katy from Messrs Gwynne. By Blackford Ringleader and out of Chestermann Katrina’s Kuss, a Stirling Rapier daughter she sold to W Warren, Gomersal.
At 2500gns was another Blackford Ringleader daughter, Chestermann Ringleader Nymph. This is out of Brinkton Nymph, a Strathisla Julius daughter and sold to the same buyer.
Averages; 11 bulls £3054.55, five females £1512, Chestermann herd 11 females £2238.41 (Harrison and Hetherington).
