Friday’s sale of working dogs at Skipton once again saw a strong trade for the best of the dogs on offer, with a top price of 3600gns paid for 13 month old black-and-white bitch Dot from John Bell, Howden, Selby.

CCM Working Dogs John Bell top price and buyer pic.jpgThis one is by 2008 international trials champion Mirk from Kvein Evans, Brecon, and out of Floss, the top priced bitch at the 2007 Kendal sale and now owned by John Wheaton. She sold to Jock Sutherland, farm manager for Keoldale Farms, Durness.

Making the day’s second top price of 3500gns was a 23 month old tri-coloured bitch from Colin Pickford, Cheshire. This was Rainbow Bet, a daughter of Aled Owen’s Roy. She sold to an undisclosed buyer.

Selling for 3200gns was Sweep, a September 2007-born black-and-white dog. This one sold to the vendor of the top priced dog, John Bell, for  further training.

Also at this money was one form Iolo Owen, 30 month old black-and-white dog. This one, by Eifion Hope’s Kep, sold to an undisclosed North Wales buyer.

Averages; well broken dogs £1838, part broken dogs £403 and pups £251 (Craven Cattle Marts).
