Just 34 head were catalogued for the Beltex Society’s Premier In-Lamb show and sale at Carlisle last week, but there was quality available, with trading peaking at 1500gns for one from Gavin Shanks.

The sale leader from Inveresk was Inveresk Loch Carron, a daughter of Van t’Ophoverveld King Kong and out of a Tulleygarley Elite daughter Inveresk Jo Jo. The gimmer, sold in lamb to Artnagullion Leathal Weapon to Ian Wilson, Kendal.

Second best on the day was a 1000gns bid for Kevin and Rachel Buckles’ best, Buckles Leading Light. By Airyolland Klass Act and out of Airyolland Hercules-sired dam Buckles Jellybean, this one joined Tudor Jenkins, Abaeron, Ceridigion and was in-lamb to Newton Leo,
