The recent South Devon Sale saw a continuing strong demand from all corners of England and Wales, although numbers of cattle forward were down on the catalogue due to bluetongue restrictions.

Prices held up well, with good returns for strong quality breeding stock, and the breed sees a continuing upward trend to reflect a significant rise in pedigree registrations and Society membership.

Top male choice for society judge Mark Thomas from Treguddick, Launceston, Cornwall, was R J and C J Edwards’ Z Colcharton Demetrius 9, a half-brother to Z Colcharton Demetrius, also polled, which broke the breed’s price record at the 2006 Spring Sale. The bull went on to be the top priced animal of the day at 3600gns.
