Renowned for its good quality finsihed cattle, St Boswells had yet another scorcher of a trade this week as steers hit the 193p/kg mark for one from Trapain selling to Messrs Cropper. Overall the 140 steers forward averaged 159.3p/kg – up 5.9p/kg on last week.
Heifers topped at 189p/kg as Robert Neill, Upper Nisbet, sold a Limousin cross to local butchers J Gilmour and Co. The 135 heifers averaged 157.1p/kg, up 3.3p/kg on last week’s trade.
In the sheep rings 449 hoggs averaged 130p/kg and topped at 152p/kg (£80.50), while 911 spring lambs averaged a massive 182.3p/kg and topped at 195.2p/kg (£90).
