Coldrochie Drover, from Mr M D McMillan was crowned overall male champion in the beef shorthorn section. The September 2010 born bull was bred from LS Zeus 151 and is out of Colnvalley Joyful Gipsy B19.

In reserve spot was Chapelton Esquire, a Canvas Yankee Y838 son, out of Chapelton Duchess 2403. The bull has a TSI of +31 and a SRI of +20.

Judge David Scarth, from the Cavans herd of Beef Shorthorns in Auckney said his champion was an excellent moving bull, which was great on his legs.

He added: “He wasn’t too fat and epitomised everything the breed should be about.”

Speaking of his reserve choice he said Chapelton Esquire was a big stock bull for his age and had “plenty of bone about him”.
