Stirling Bull Sales 2012: Saler and British Blue top prices

Saler, Cumbrian Jonnie sold for 3,600gns

 

Only one of the four British Blues up for sale sold on the day, with the only successful bid hitting 3,800gns for Chatham Francis from Messrs J M Morrison and Son, 58 Carrowreagh Road, Ballymoney.

 

This Paulern Verdi son in out of Chatham Anna and sold to Johnston and Son, Glenrig Farm, Falkirk.

A bull from the dispersal of the Tullyneddie Herd of Pedigree Salers from Mr I Wightman, Bankhead, Clunie, Blairgowrie, hit the top price of 3,800gns for the breed.

 

Beowulf Polled Clyde (Lot 472), the last in the ring, sold to J Shaw of West Lethians, Saline, Dumfermaline. This one is a Rigel Othello son, out of Beowuld Cayleigh.

 

Overall there were nine Salers bulls and 16 females forward with Cumbrian Jonnie from Farmstock Genetics, B Walling, Over Whitelaw, Selkirk (Lot 439), getting the next best price of 3,600gns for another bull. This Valient Son out of Cumbrian Jolie 57 went to Mcclymont of Cuil, Newton Stewart.

 

Next best at 3,000gns was another bull, Callender Smythe (Lot 442) a polled beast put forward by Mr D Shepherd, Mains of Callander, Crieff, and selling to Gillies of Curacoa, Taynuilt, Targyll. This one is a Callender Ted Poll son.

 

Then at 2,300gns was another from the Tullyneddie dispersale (Lot 465), female, Tullyneddie Polled Heiress 2nd, with heifer calf at foot. Heiress is a Oldcastle Polled Gemini daughter.
