STIRLING BULL SALES 2015: Beef Shorthorn females sell to 3,600gns

Beef Shorthorn females met a strong demand in Stirling yesterday (Monday 2 February) at the breed society’s official spring sale, where bidding peaked at 3,600gns.

Overall 22 entries sold to average £2,181 and achieve a clearance of 92%.

Sale leader at 3,600gns was Donald Biggar’s Chapelton Sister TI +21, SRI +20, from Castle Douglas. This two-year-old roan heifer is by the 6,800gns Glenisla Banqo and out of a homebred dam by Cavans Yankee. She sold in calf to Crichton Paddy and was knocked down to J Fyall, Newmachar, Aberdeen.

Kidston Tessa Sonia 1, a roan two-and-a-half-year-old in calf heifer from James Stewart and Partners, Peebles, made the day’s second highest price of 3,200gns when selling to R Downie, Ballater, Aberdeen. Sonia 1 was one of twins by Chapelton Cavalier.

Mr Biggar’s next highest at 2,800gns was the roan Chapelton Zola TI +18, SRI+16 a two-year-old by Chapelton Typhoon and in calf to Paddy. The buyer was Dunblane-based Highland Wagyu who secured from the three more same way bred Banquo daughters in calf to Paddy from Mr Biggar.

The day’s female champion, Millerston Augusta Glint TI +12, SRI +15, a two-year-old red heifer, sold for 2,900gns to Messrs Darlington. Bred and exhibited by Jack Ramsay, Mauchline, Ayr, she was by the homebred Millerston Cyclone.
