Stirling (Perth) Simmental bull preview

And so to the final preview for this round of bull sales, the Simmentals. The other two published this week seem to be provoking a bit of debate, so no doubt this one will too.

First choice for me is Team Apollo (lot 24), a Tilbrook Noble son out of Team Macey, a Riverdale Dakota daughter. He impresses with a TSI of +32 and an SRI of +38.

Next up in the list for me is Slievenagh Awesome (lot 31). He is by the great breeding Kilbride Farm Newry and out of Slievenagh Madonna, a Cleenagh Flasher daughter. He has a TSI of +31 and an SRI of +37.

It’s a bit of a jump for the next pick, Skerrington Achievement (lot 54). This son of Corskie Proton, the Highland and Royal champion from 2007, is out of Skerrington Rebecca 18, the reserve champion from the Highland in 2007 and 2008 and has a TSI of +34 and an SRI of +42, he could be one to watch.

Another from the same home is the next choice Skerrington Armada (lot 58). This is again by Proton and is out of Skerrington Rebecca 22, another from the same family as the last dam. He is full brother to herd sire at Starline, Skerrington Warlord, and has a TSI of +35 and an SRI of +44.

Up after that is Dressogue Ace (lot 65), a son of 14,000gns bull Dressogue Victorious, which was reserve senior in February 2009, out of Drumacritten Trish, a Slievenagh Fantastic daughter. He comes with a TSI of +23 and an SRI of +27. I’ll be intrigued to see how Victorious has bred.

After that I’ve marked Kilbride Farm Arklow (lot 70). This is by the prolific sire Seaview Prince Charming which has bred well and sold up to 15,000. Arklow is out of Kilbride Farm Jolly 4R, a Newry daughter, and has a TSI of +24 and an SRI of +28.

Then I’m looking forward to seeing the first Seepa Tee Jay son sell in the UK, Strathisla Attaboy (lot 98), this is out of Strathisla Tina’s Hannah, a Strathisla Julius daughter and has a TSI of +21 and an SRI of +28. These Tee Jay sons could be interesting as he has a real dark colour now favoured by some in the Simmentals.

Following that I’ve marked Corskie Andy (lot 108). This son of Popes Laird is out of Corskie Tinkerbell, a Strathisla Nugget daughter and has a TSI of +31 and a strong SRI of +41, coupled with a calving ease of +4.5.

Moving on again I like the look of Kilbride Farm Airlie (lot 129), this is also by Seaview Prince Charming and is out of Kilbride Farm Dora 28V, a daughter of 1970s sire Terrible. He comes with a TSI of +29 and an SRI of +35 and it will be good to see how the mix of older and modern genetics comes together.

Then comes Auchorachan Angus (lot 131). This Saltire Talant son is out of Delfur Weigela, a Glebehill Nobleman daughter. Talent was of course sire of last year’s 20,000gns bull Auchorachan Wizard, and Angus comes with a TSI of +26 and an SRI of +33.

The next pick is another from the same good stable, Auchorachan ACDC (lot 138), and is more closely related to Wizard, being by Talent and out of a maternal half sister, Auchorachan Polly, an AGP Emperor daughter. This one has an impressive show record behind him, both locally and at the Scottish National Simmental Show. He sells with a TSI of +24 and an SRI of +29.

It’s back to Skerrington for the next pick, Skerrington Atlantic (lot 148). This is another by Corskie Proton and is out of Skerrington Rhona 21, a Sterling Nelson 2 daughter with a strong show career behind her. She is also the top indexed female in the breed at the current time and this is reflected in Atlantic’s figures which include a TSI of +36 and an SRI of +43.

The final choice for me is Omorga Achilles (lot 170). This Shanehill Victor son is out of Cleenagh Daffodil, making him a maternal brother to 22,000gns bull Omorga Samson, 15,00gns Omorga Prince and also 10,000gns Omorga Watson. He has a TSI of +27 and an SRI of +29.

That’s all of my choices, but no doubt you’ll want to add your own, so feel free to comment below
