In a change to the judging format tonight saw the judging of the Simmental females here at Stirling, with the championship and reserve coming from Michael Barlow’s Denizes herd.

Taking the top spot for Mr Barlow was Denizes Nelly (lot 176), a Dripsey Super King daughter out of Longmead Nelly, a Brinkton Sovereign daughter. This one was AI’d to Ashfield Tornado in July and has a TSI of +26 and an SRI of +33.

Reserve overall was the second prize heifer from the first class Denizes Hannadante 8 (lot 179), a Newsham Romulus daughter out of Pennance Lusaka Pandora, another Sovereign daughter. She has a TSI of +22 and an SRI of +27.

In third place in the first class was Glenturk Angel  (lot 181) from Brian Allen. This is by Glenturk Rolex and out of Glenturk Tinsel, an Omorga Prince daughter. She has a TSI of +22 and an SRI of +25.

Taking top spot in the second class was Blaegarrie Aronde (lot 189) from the Currie family. This is a Sterling Flint daughter out of Burghbridge Francesca 2, a Whitemere Gambler daughter she has a TSI of +22 and an SRI of +20. Second was Whiteridden Madonna’s Tanya (lot 182) and third was Whiteridden Angel (lot 185).

The third and final class of heifers was won by Whiteridden Angela (lot 193) from H Gilbert. Sired by Dirnanean Trustee, she is out of Whiteridden Ruby, a Milnaufa Graduate daughter and has a TSI of +22 and an SRI of +26. Second here was Glenturk Alexis (lot 190) and third was Drumsleed Arianne (lot 197).

These heifers will sell tomorrow along with the bulls which are judged in the morning. From what I’ve seen there are some good Simmental bulls to be offered tomorrow, with the pick for me being Michael Durno’s Auchorachan ACDC (lot 137), tomorrow will tell if I’m right or not!
