McCartney’s of Kington reported another excellent store cattle sale with every animal in the market averaging £950 a head.

A number of strong steers sold between £1,000 and £1,320 a head with bulls topping at £1,220 a head.

Cattle were sold to a full ring of buyers from a wide area looking for quality store cattle for finishing.

The store cattle on offer on the day were of good quality with store cattle reaching a top price of £1,320 a head for charolais x steeres from Messrs Watkins.

April Store Cattle Prices were as follows:

Steers averaged an excellent £2.19 per kg with a top of £2.36 per kg for some Limousin x Steers from Duncan Cameron & Sons.

Heifers averaged £2.00 per kg with a top of £2.10 per kg for some Charolais x Heifers from PR Jones and Son

All steers forward at the sale averaged £1010 per head with a top of £1320 per head.

All heifers forward at the sale averaged £890 per head with a top of £1125 per head
