Store trade was termed “tremendous” by Exeter Market auctioneers this week, as steers topped at £995 while heifers went to £842.
With numbers in short supply, trade is continuing at exceptionally high levels, with suckler bred cattle reaching prices never seen at the market before.
A group of six Simmental cross steers from M and J Hoskin, Dunsford, sold for the top price of the day at £995 a head. Finsihed heifers topped at £842 for a good bunch of Limousin crosses from B Vallance.
A run of pedigree Limousin bulls from Messrs Quinney and Spears sold to £1050.
Numbers were a little lower than the previous week in the store sheep rings, but demand remains strong,w ith many good sorts fetching in excess of £81.
