Charolais bulls witnessed a strong trade at N I Charolais club’s autumn show and sale, which saw prices peak at 5600gns.

 

Leading trade was the reserve champion, Brogher Domino, who was within the breed’s top 10% with a TI +30 and SRI +35. He is a Doonally New son and out of a homebred dam and was forward by Trevor Phair, Enniskillen, Fermanagh and sold to Alex Ferguson, Aughnacloy, Tyrone.

 

Next in the money was the 17 month old Clogher Diamond, a twin who is by Major and out of a Clogher bred dam going back to Doonally New. Consigned by Joe Kelly, Clogher, Tyrone, it was a 5400gns bid that secured Diamond for A Loughran, Cookstown.

 

A 5000gns bid was enough to secure Drumconnis Dallas, a 17 month old for T J Kelly, Derry. Forward by John McGrath, Omagh, Tyrone, this other Doonally New son is out of a homebred cow by Moyness Lincoln.

 

Derryharney Dreamer went under the hammer at 4800gns selling to I Hetherington, Omagh, Tyrone. Consigned by Harold Stubbs, Lisnaskea Dreamer is a Hilllviewfarm Perfect son and out of a homebred dam.

 

The supreme champion, Dunmore Duran was next in line selling for 4500gns to Kyle McCall, Collone, Armagh. This 19 month old Doonally New son, was out of a Derrygiff Mills sired cow from Derek Campton, Cookstown.

 

John Mcgarth saw a good day trading when his second entry of the day, a July 2008 born Drumconnis David, again by Doonally New was knocked down to 4400gns to Mark Thompson, Kesh, Fermanagh.

 

Two more entries shared the 4400gns price tag. First was Corryglass Dazzler, a June 2008 born Doonallly New son and out of a homebred dam. Bred and exhibited by Brian Phair, Enniskillen, Dazzler returned to Enniskillen with Ian Brown.

 

The last call of 4400gns went to Gordon Cutler, Enniskillen for his 13 month old, Gortdonaghy Dice. By Cloonmore Bernard and out of an Allanfauld bred cow, he sold to Sam Calvin, Coleraine, Derry.
