The North West Limousin Club held a successful open calf show at Borderway Mart on Wednesday.

 

Entries were up on the inaugural Show held last year with several entries travelling down from Scotland to compete.

 

Chris Pennie of the Sarkley herd, Powys made an excellent job of judging the Limousin sired stock.

 

The Young Handlers class was popular with seven year old Callum Hunter winning  best calf with Dave, a crossbred and 10 year old John Grisedale winning Best Handler in the Under 11 years class

 

Over 11 years old best calf was Thomas Illingworth with Glenrock Caprice, a pedigree heifer, while Best Handler was Edward Hird from an entry of nine in this class.

 

Overall Best Young Handler was Edward Hird who was presented with the Capontree Veterinary Practice Silver Salver.

The overall champion was Glenrock Caprice by Glenrock Spartacus out of Glenrock Saspirilla shown by Stephen and Thomas Illingworth of Howgillside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie.

The reserve champion was Taboo, a crossbred bullock by Shatton Pedro from A & E Vance, Whithorn, Newton Stewart.
