Averages rose by £193 for steers and £145 for heifers at yesterday’s show and sale of store cattle at Middleton in Teesdale, where the trade was led at £1750 by a British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Raine, Stanhopegate.

Next best at £1700 was a Limousin cross steer from J and J C White, Rigg Farm, which sold to J and J Mather, while the champion, a Limousin cross heifer from the same vendors sold at £1650 to J L White and Son.

The best of the opposite sex to the champion was a British Blue cross steer from Messrs Raine which sold at £1200.
