A total of 1,471 animals were sold at the two day Exmoor Suckled Calf Rearers Association busk calves sale, at Cutcombe Market.
Exmoor Farmers Livestock Auctions Ltd said it was a “very positive two day sale” with well grown calves and a strong contingent of buyers across the two days.
Day one of the sale saw 785 steers go under the hammer, with the top price of £975 paid for an animal from Mr M R Scott, Brendon Hill Farm. While the top price animal a kilo went to a beast from Mr P Land, Hillview Upton, which secured 321.6p/kg.
Day two of the sale saw 686 heifers go under the hammer, with the top price of £745 paid by Mr R Norman for a heifer from first time vendor Mr J C Hancox, Hinam Farm. This one marked the highest price a kilo, at 281.1p/kg.
