Suffolk females sold to a top price of2,000gns at Carlisle on Friday, with the headline price going to WilliamBorthwick for a ewe lamb (Lot 168) from his Ballochmyle flock, from Ayrshire.

 

The Kings High and Mighty daughter is out ofa dam by Strathisla Sea Bird and sold to W Duncan, Anstruther, Fife.

 

Next up and selling for 1,400gns wasJanuary-born ewe lamb (Lot 115) from Mark Evans’ Jubilee flock, West Yorkshire.

Sired by Strathisla Seville, she is out of adam by Strathisla Shirocco and was purchased by R M Robinson and Son, GreatLimber, Lincolnshire.

 

Selling again to W Duncan for 1,000gns wasanother ewe lamb (Lot 169) from the Ballochmyle flock. Sired by Glenhead GoldenWonder and out of a dam by Strathisla Supernova.

 

 The hammer fell at 700gns for (Lot 146) a ewe in-lamb toCairness Stirling, from Darren Jones’ Thurston flock, Carlisle, Cumbria. TheThurston Chieftain daughter was brought by B Nicholson, Mossbank, Shetland.

 

Two successful bids of 650gns were made forthe next pair. The first purchase was made by T J Guinness, from Dumfriesshire,for a ewe from the Thurston flock. Sired by Cairness Classical Creation, she isout a dam by Cairness Spartan and was served to Cairness Stirling in July.

 

Second at the same price was another ewefrom the same flock, which went home with M Radford, Teesdale, Co Durham. Siredby Cairness See the Stars she is out of a dam by Fordafourie Lochnagar and wasserved to Cairness Stirling in August.

 

Averages:35 ewe lambs £350.19; 41 Gimmers £332.16 and 32 ewes £316.14.
