Championship honours in the sheep lines at Newark and Notts this weekend went to the Suffolk leader from Thomas Blunt, Milton Keynes. This one, a January 2008-born shearling ewe had stood champion under breed chairman Michael Weaver and is by a Northcroft sire out of an Alloaks ewe bred by the Pinnys, Northampton.
Standing reserve overall was the Charollais champion from Cecil Thomas. This one is by Dalby High Flyer and out of a homebred ewe from Mr Thomas’ 60-ewe flock.
Mr Thomas also enjoyed success in the interbreed group class which I judged this morning, taking the top ticket there with a brace of shearling ewes and a tup, Charles Sercombe stood second with another trio of Charollais.
