A large entry of 146 cattle was seen at Beeston Castle Auction, Cheshire for the Western Holstein Club’s show and sale where 46 animals exceeded the 2000gns barrier.

 

Top call of 3800gns came for a red heifer from David and Stella Rutter, Delamere, Cheshire who entered a consignment of cattle to disperse their Delwin herd. The heifer, Delwin Cheech Teezie Red is by Morrill J Cheech Red and goes to Messrs Davies, Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire.

 

Having vaccinated for bluetongue, the Stafford family from Melton Mowbray were back at Beeston and sold Saxelby Westminster Sallie at 2850gns. She was giving almost 33kg on the day and goes to J C Bellerby, Leeds.

 

The championship went to A L Moore and Partners, Middlewich, Cheshire with the calved heifer Danevalley Jordan Favourite 3rd  that made 2350gns to H W Evans, Oswestry.

Mr Richard Griffiths. The well bred heifer from M J and M Nash is bred from eight generations of cows scored in the top two grades and traces back to the world renown Horizon Jub Helene ET.

 

She calved on 24 June and was giving 32.8kg daily and she finally sold fro 3600gns to Messrs J C Bell, Toft.

 

Reserved champion was taken by Ray Brown and Partners with Bidleas Inter Darkie. This heifer calved on 12 June and was snapped up for 2000gns by N and C Trickett, Chesterton, Newcastle. The trade was consistent throughout with numbers a little thin on the ground.
