A shearling ram secured the top price of 1100gns at the annual evening show and sale of Swaledale rams at Skipton this week.

 

The pre sale champion was sold by Roy Nelson, Lainger House, Bordley to judge, Davis Robinson.

 

Skipton Swaledale Rams Champ and Judge pic.jpgThis one is by a sire bred in Cumbria by Eric Wear, Howe Green, Patterdale and out of a Threshfield based Jack Wade ewe.

 

Local breeder, Robert Crisp, Calton sold a shearling sired by a Roy Nelson ram for 900gns to Alan Greenwood, Trawden

 

Mr Nelson also sent out the first prize shearling ram in a new ‘best conformation’ show class to sell at 950gns to Robin Jackson, Blubberhouses.

 

Mr Crisp also sold a 4-shear ram bred by Bill Cowperthwaite, Malham Moor for 750gns to Colin Sutcliffe, Giggleswick.

 

Yet another Nelson shearling went to V Verity and Son, Blubberhouses for 700gns.

 

The 3-shear runner-up, bred by J C White and Son, Middleton-in-Teesdale joined M Cunningham, Bolsterstone, Sheffield for 680gns.
