Visitors to XLVets’ stand at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show can take up the FarmSkills Challenge and check they are following best practice in some key techniques.
XLVets members – wearing bright green FarmSkills T-shirts – will be bringing learning to life and helping farmers through a series of interactive practical challenges. These will include taking clean milk samples, carrying out injections and using a colostrometer.
A “pull out and keep” guide on best practice for these simple, but essential, dairy skills will also be available.
Dairy farmers and stockmen can also find out more on the range of FarmSkills dairy training courses being run this autumn and winter. Funded by the XLVets FarmSkills programme, a day’s training can cost as little as £45, with courses available nationwide.
